ティルミズィー師の
الشمائل المحمدية
『シャマーイル・ムハンマディーヤ(預言者ムハンマド人物伝選集)』
翻訳・註解: 前野(アハマド)直樹
The Opportunity: Japan has almost no classical Islamic texts in Japanese. Classical hadith literature is nearly absent entirely. The books that form the devotional and intellectual spine of this religion, the works that Muslims across every other language have turned to for a thousand years, do not yet exist for Japanese speakers.
This translation effort changes that. And the Shamail is the right book to begin with.
Al-Shamail al-Muhammadiyyah in Japanese introduces the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the most personal way possible. His description. His habits. His laughter. His silence. His mercy at home and in the world. It is the book that makes people fall in love with him. In every language it has entered, it has become a foundational devotional text. Japanese will be no different.
This is a legacy building chance, before Ramadan is over, to include your dedication in the inaugural print run of IGP's Japanese translation of al-Shamail al-Muhammadiyyah by Imam al-Tirmidhi.

Al-Shamail al-Muhammadiyyah by Imam Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi gathers 415 narrations covering every aspect of the Prophet's outward form, conduct, habits, and inner qualities. Scholars across every tradition have taught and transmitted this text for over a thousand years.
This Japanese translation will be led by Shaykh
Ahmad Naoki Maeno, a prominent traditionally trained Japanese convert, scholar, and teacher in the living chain of this deen. He is a graduate of
Fath Islamic Institute in Damascus. He began work on this project during Ramadan 1447 at the instruction of IGP's founder, Muhammad Sattaur, who visited him personally in Tokyo to discuss the scope, the vision, and the standard we are committed to upholding.
This is a legacy work. The Japanese Muslim community is growing. Classical translation is the foundation of what comes next. This book will be part of that foundation.
ISLAM IN JAPAN
Islam in Japan is young, growing, and at a turning point. There are an estimated 300,000 Muslims in the country, with mosques now in every major city. The community spans foreign workers, students, and a growing number of Japanese converts. Classical Islamic texts in Japanese are almost entirely absent. The Quran and a handful of basic works exist. The deeper library, the hadith collections, the devotional classics, has never been built. That work is only just beginning.
