Rabi al-Awwal Seerah Course - Online Course

Studying the life and character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a time-honoured tradition maintained for centuries upon centuries by Muslims around the world.

Shaykh Ahmed al-Azhary will guide students on a journey through a unique study of key aspects of the biography and legacy of Allah's Messenger ﷺ, with a particular focus on his ﷺ authentic miracles, as well as the his ﷺ role as a teacher.

This course will be a special opportunity to reconnect with the Best of Creation ﷺ through the study of 4 extraordinary texts.

• Discussion of Prophetic birth, the role of miracles, the Prophet's role as a teacher & mentor, and the relationship between teaching and miracles, and what we can learn from these aspects of the Prophetic Sunnah

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Shaykh Ahmed al-Azhary began his journey of studying traditional sciences about 20 years ago. In addition to studying with scholars from al-Azhar, he had the privilege of studying with visiting scholars from Algeria and India in a one-on-one format, and was thus given an exceptional opportunity to study and discuss advanced-level texts of different sorts and over a long period of time. Shaykh Ahmed has more than 70 Ijazas from scholars from all over the Muslim world. Shaykh Ahmed holds degrees from American University in Cairo, Tulane University, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and has obtained additional certificates in a dozens of different subjects. He is the author of Ruh al-'Ilm, a treatise in the art of scientific investigation, as well as a number of works on Islamic pedagogy, linguistics, and Hanafi Usul. He is currently a researcher in Islamic intellectual history and a teacher of traditional sciences under the supervision of Habib 'Ali al-Jifri, and teaches at Madyafat Shaykh Isma'il Sadiq al-'Adawi, a well-known learning center near al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo.

The Story of the Blessed Birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and His Blessed Nursing

This brief yet comprehensive work details events connected to the blessed birth of the noble Prophet ﷺ, beginning with his lineage, and followed by the description of his actual birth. It then moves into a description of Halimah al-Sa'diyyah رضي الله عنها and the intriguing events that led to her being blessed to receive the Prophet ﷺ for nursing, as well as the many blessings that manifested in her, her family, and her livestock due to his blessed presence amongst them, which all led them to the logical conclusion that this boy ﷺ was an extraordinarily blessed soul.

The text also mentions the story of when Jibril عليه السلام visited the Prophet ﷺ whilst he was still a young boy, and washed his heart after splitting his chest. It concludes by describing the Prophet’s sublime attributes and character traits, and his beautiful outer appearance ﷺ.

One of the collections of 40 hadith compiled by Imam al-Nabhani, this text brings together selected narrations illuminating some aspect of one or more Prophetic miracles. One major theme of this text is the manner in which the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are distinguished from the miracles of previous prophets, may peace be upon them all.

The Messenger, Our Teacher ﷺ

This book provides a focused overview of the role of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a teacher and mentor. It provides a framework for modern readers to draw lessons from his ﷺ approach to educating the early Muslim community.

The text begins with an introductory discussion and overview of the subject. It then examines different elements of the Prophet's instructional methods, beginning with general themes, then focusing on more specific aspects of the teaching and mentoring process. Al-Khasa’is al-Muhammadiyyah

The science of Khasa'is encompasses the study of the uniqueness of the actions, the attributes, and the essence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, as well as the special gifts given to him, and the special gifts that are given to the Muslim Ummah by virtue of their status as the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. Knowledge of the Khasa'is is considered to be one of the keys to benefiting from one's relationship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, since his unique aspects provide openings to innumerable blessings.

In the history of Islam, the earliest works in the genre of Khasa'is date from the time of the early Imams and compilers of Hadith. This present work consists of translations of two major works in the genre of Khasais and one supplemental work from three of the great scholars of the Ummah: Bidayat al-Sul fi Tafdhil al-Rasul ﷺ of Shaykh 'Izz al-Din ibn 'Abd al-Salam, as well as Unmūdhaj al-Labīb fi Khasa’is al-Habib ﷺ of Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, and selections from Matali' al-Masarrat li Jala' Dala'il al-Khayrat of Shaykh Muhammad al-Mahdi al-Fasi.
